APC Ijumu chapter raises alarm over plan to demolish Senator Melaye office

The All Progressive Congress (APC), in Ijumu Local Government of Kogi State Mr has raised alarm over an alleged illegal and desperate moves by Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello to stop the finishing touches on Senator Dino Melaye’s constituency office located in Kabba, headquarter of Kogi West senatorial district.
The Publicity Secretary of the party Gbenga Bright Ijumu chapter in a statement issued to journalist in Lokoja, said the governor has issued a directive to the General Manager of Kogi State Town Planning and Kabba-Bunu local government Administrator, Mr Moses Tolorunleke, to issue a ‘stop-work’ directive on the constituency office.
Coming at a time when work on the office has reached advanced stage for its commissioning he said their intention is to frustrate the final phase of ongoing work at the project site.

Explaining the status of the office, Gbenga Bright observed that the Kogi West senatorial constituency office was billed to be officially commissioned 30th June 2017 adding that what is been done as at moment is finishing touches and upgrade of furnitures.

“I also wish to inform the public, our esteemed party leaders, members and the the good and loyal electorates of Kogi west senatorial district that all necessary legal rules, payment and processes of town planning procedures for such project was done satisfactorily, and all papers were given to us before the commencement of the building which is now due for commissioning.

“Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye is bringing development to Kabba town and a Governor who has not done anything positive for Kogi people, despite huge resources collected so far, is attempting to stop development and progress.

“Surely, this move by draconian Kogi State government is not in tune with the yearnings and aspirations of the good people of Kabba and Kogi west in general. This act is counterproductive, wicked, unfortunate, callous and an uncivilized display of intolerance.

“Survey shows that any responsible government will welcome good development regardless of the level of political disagreement. Kogi case is in reverse. Kogi state and Nigerian people will begin to ask fundamental questions on why our governor is so hell bent on losing focus and making frivolities his priorities.

“They shall begin to view our governor who deployed state resources heavily on an impossible recall project and now attempting to stop development at every point.
He said the attempt to demolish the building is an effort by the state government to generate crisis and insecurity in the state.
Bright indicated that Governor Bello was running a terror-like government.
“We would not watch and allow a government that is immune to development and progress to stop the good intention of Senator Dino Melaye for his people.
“We shall not in any way accept a illegal display and manifestations of a government who lacks foresight and direction. We boldly say that we shall not succumb to the whims and caprices of a confused people who have lost completely the necessary relevance and legitimacy.”

He said though they yearn for peace, call for peace, advocate for peace, but surely, not the peace of the grave yard as being envisaged by the Kogi state govt under the leadership of governor Yahaya Bello.
Bright called on the Governor and his aides to desist from sinister acts as any attempt to breach their constitutional rights will be bluntly resisted
In a swift reaction Yisau O. Aliu General Manager, Kogi State Town Planning and Development Board said the accusation that the Governor was using the Board to Stop the development of Senator Dino Melaye’s Constituency Office was a mere blackmail
“We want to state categorically that the State Town Planning and Development Board is not a political body but a Government Agency with clearly Stated and defined mandate dated back to 1991 and does not work outside its mandate. “The Kogi State Government under the Military Administration established the State Town Planning and Development Board based on Edict No. 5 of 1991 with statutory responsibilities to promote and secure the physical development and environmental improvement of the entire state.
This he said they have been doing that through orderly control of development and the use of land, to formulate, monitor, control and coordinate physical and regional activities.
He said they advised the agent to seek alternative site or possibly acquire more space to meet up with the required ratio and process relevant title documents but he failed to adhere to the directives and went ahead to develop the said site. “Several “stop work” notices were served without response from the developer or his agent. The State Town Planning and Development Board has no option than to enforce relevant laws, hence, the marking of the structure.”
According to him, Mr. Gbenga Bright did a massive disservice to the public by attributing the marking of the building to politics when all available facts point to gross violation of Town Planning laws by the developer

AESID hails Ebonyi CP, warns against intimidation of judges by state govt

The Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (AESID) has warned the state government to stop intimidating Judges in the cause of their duties, even as it commended the new Commissioner of Police for being professional.

The Ebonyi indigenes said the agents of state government were trying to manipulate the judiciary into causing trouble in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

In a statement released by its President, Amb. Paschal Oluchukwu, on Sunday in Abuja, the association said the goal is to continue to cause division in the PDP by having the Nwebonyi group parade as a factional State Exco of the PDP through Suit No: HAB/161/2020 with Roy Umahi as the lead counsel to the Plaintiffs.

“We condemn, whole and entire the desperate attempts to use the Judiciary to achieve the threat of being in APC and sponsoring crises and divisions in the PDP.”

While commending the Ebonyi Judiciary for remaining firm as the last hope of the common man, the statement charges it to remain steadfast and unwavering.

“Already, we have read in the media through the former Assistant Financial Secretary of the Nwebonyi group who recently dumped the camp, Linus Ogazi how Governor Umahi divided the Excos in order to create a parallel faction of the party.

“AESID is also aware of the threats and intimidations that the young man has been receiving since he made the disclosures and wishes to call on Security agencies to call the Governor, his brothers and the Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly who have been dishing out threats to him to order. They should be held responsible for whatever happens to Mr. Ogazi.”

On the activities of the new Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Garba, the group thanked the police for their professional role in ensuring that those who staged a protest recently at the state High Court were dispelled peacefully.

“We, however wish to counsel the new CP to remain as professional and apolitical as his erstwhile colleague, CP Philip Maku who has been transferred from the state.

“AESID also calls on security agencies and INEC to obey the order of Justice I. E. Ekwo of the Abuja Federal High Court in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1609/2020 restraining David Umahi’s faction of the PDP in Ebonyi State led by the gadfly, Nwebonyi and his cohorts from parading themselves as officers of the Party. They should therefore provide security and accord protection to the Udeogu-led Exco to legitimately takeover the State Secretariat of the Party for the interest of justice, peace and unity of the opposition party.

“AESID lastly commends the Udeogu-led Excos and indeed, the teeming members of PDP for their calmness, steadfastness and resoluteness amidst attacks and wanton provocations by Governor Umahi and his surrogates. For in the end, it shall indeed, be proven to all that Ebonyi is PDP and PDP is Ebonyi State and Umahi is only a solo naked dance in his new political voyage!”

Implosion in APC may not give PDP victory in 2023 if the party does not reconcile aggrieved members says Lamido

The former Governor of Jigawa State Alhaji Sule Lamido has warned his party the Peoples Democratic Party to reconcile aggrieved members to unite as the imminent breakup of the ruling APC may not give it victory unless the members settle their differences amicably.
Lamido stated this at the inauguration of the Jigawa State People’s Democratic Party PDP reconciliation committee in Dutse.

He indicated that the party
Has its own problems adding that it is either they correct it or Nigerians would continue to suffer”

Lamido charged the members of the reconciliation committee to be just and fair in their approach to aggrieved members.

He appealed to aggrieved members to put the party before their interest, for the victory of the party.

“We must forget all our grievances, set aside all our personal interest for us to win because it’s only PDP that can be able to rule this country” he stated.
He said the days of the All Progressive Congress APC are numbered as President Muhammad Buhari will not support Bola Ahmad Tinubu’s candidature in the coming 2023 general.

He claimed that in the near future, there would be no more APC because the whole of APC is made of two people Buhari and Tinubu.

“True of the matter very soon there would be no APC in Nigeria because it’s made up of two persons Buhari and Tinubu”

“And I swear to God Buhari will not support Tinubu’s candidacy coming 2023 general election”

“So since they are the leaders of APC and they have issues everyone will find his way and that would be the end of APC in Nigeria”
