‘Buhari’s stance on priority for his supporters gives room for Biafra Agitation’

Senator  representing Abia South senatoria District who is the Senate minority leader has blamed President Muammadu Buhari for the sustained agitation by Indegenous people of Biafra for a seperate country, that should be known as Biafra.
In a book he presented, Monday at Yaradua Center in Abuja, which was reviewed by Segun Adeniyi, Abaribe had asked rhetorically that given all the advantages that the Indigbo have in Nigeria why the clamor by its youths and others for a seperate State of Biafra?
He located the cause of the problem in the Freudian slip by President Muhammadu Buhari shortly after assuming office in 2015 when he said, those who gave him 5% of the votes in the election that brought him to power should not expect the same attention and patronage as those who gave him 97% of the votes.
“That the distribution of opportunities in the last six years have followed that formular to the disadvantage of Igbo people, is what the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) and its sympathizers use as excuses for their campaign.
However, on President Buhari’s groundstanding Abaribe also argue is a temporary problem since he (Buhari) would not be in power forever using another Igbo adage to explain his reasoning, ‘A 100years is not the same as forever’
He reminded Nigerians that Igbos continue to carry stars and he drew memory from the Nigeria struggle to create an equitable country saying they have traversed countries and are to be found settled all over Nigeria.
In the face of prevailing circumstances where there is a constant cry of marginalization he counseled that Ndigbo should negotiate their place in a restructured Nigeria where power is devolved to the federating units.
He punctured holes in the clamour for secession by IPOB and the manner the operatives demonise respective Igbo citizens who disagrees with their agitation.

More setback for opposition PDP in Nasarawa as Minority Leader dump party for APC

The Minority leader and member representing Kokona West constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon Danladi Jatau has defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State.

His defection was contained in a letter of intent to join APC in his ward, Bassa Electoral ward, Kokona Local Government Area of the State on Tuesday.
The letter reads,
“I wish to formally notify you of my intention to join the All Progressive Congress ( APC) from today being Tuesday, April 13th, 2021.

“While counting on your support to enjoy the previliges of the party, I promise to be loyal and do my best for the success of the party” he said.

The minority leader, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Public Complaints, Petitions and Security has assured of his commitment to mobilise people to ensure the success of APC at all levels.

2023: It’s Our Turn To Produce President- North Central Patriot

Ahead of 2023 presidential election, a group, under the aegis of North Central Patriot, has called on the region to agitate for presidency.

The agitation, the group said, has become imperative as the region has not produce presidency since the inception of democracy in the country in 1999.

The group urged the people from the region to come together and fight for this position as 2023 has given another oppotunity for such agitation.

The North Central Patriot specifically urged its people to take advantage of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) zonal congress coming up in Benue on Saturday, adding that such avenue is good opportunity to express this concern to members.

The group noted that the Zonal Congress is an avenue to put plans in place for the call for North Central presidency.

The group, in a statement by its President, Bitrus Paul, noted that if there is any better place or time for this agitation is this congres.

The North Central Patriot said: “Enough is enough, this is our time to produce the President. Other zones have had a stint in that position, we also need to taste it. The era of playing the second fiddle is over, we also need to lead the affairs of this nation.”

The group pointed out that North Central doesn’t lack quality leaders, who can hold positions, give directive and lead the nation from all fronts.

“No section of this country should be ignored when it comes to leadership position. The region has been ignored too long. This is the time for us to rise up and claim what we believe is ours at this point in time,” the group said.
