He was speaking against the backdrop of the statement creditated to the Governor of Kaduna-State Nasir El-Rufai that threatened foreign observer mission that should they interfere in Nigeria internal matters they will return to their countries in body bags. Melaye said the Kaduna State Governor is representative of the APC, dog cannot give birth to a monkey, saying that violence is typical of APC.
The senator who spoke to newsmen at Gegu in Kogi Local Government of Kogi State during his campaign tour of the local Government said that he had lost faith in the All progressive Congress at all levels due to their anti people oriented programmes leading to pervasive hunger and starvation.
He said that available records also shows that Kogi state records the highest rate of hunger induced ulcer patients in the country.
Melaye said that the pervasive and unprecedented hunger ravaging the country including Kogi state have made the people to have a rethink about the ruling APC and vowed to pitch their tent with the People Democratic Party under the presidency of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“I am here in continuation of my consultation, to solicit for the people’s vote and to express appreciation for their tremendous support for my second term Senatorial ambition. As you can see, the level of support and acceptability, it shows that people are disenchanted with the APC led administration at all levels and ready to switch over to PDP.”he said.
He urged those still in doubt to come on board the train that would take them to their destiny.
He said that APC had consistently impoverished Nigerians in the last three and a half year to the extent that the choice in clear today that PDP is a better alternative.
At Kachala town along Abuja/ Lokoja road, Senator Melaye promised to make it a matter of priority to continue to touch the lives of every member of the community.

“I have been assured by the people that from the House of Assembly, to the House of representatives and the senate and the Presidency, they would vote for PDP.
“Voting for PDP is a concluded matter because of the pervasive hunger. Kogi State today have the highest number of ulcer patients in the federal Republic of Nigeria due to hunger as salaries have not been paid, pensioners are being owed, high level of insecurity. People are disenchanted and dissilussioned, they are not happy and so they want PDP back to power to come and come and correct the mess created by the APC.

Former commissioner for Local Government and chieftaincy affairs Tolorunju Faniyi said melaye chances are very bright.
“You can see it for yourself, we have gone through the nooks and crannies of Kogi West his acceptability is very high, you can see people jubilating chanting Dino Melaye, Dino, Dino.
“I think they have come to the realization that Melaye is needed now than ever before. The projects he facilitated, about 147 has justified that he should be given a second term and so that is why the youths, women and everybody in the community is shouting Dino all over.
“There is an attestation of projects anywhere we went, so I think Dino has no problem.”
Since after his ordeal, the senator is coming out for the first time to campaign in person for his reelection bid.

AESID hails Ebonyi CP, warns against intimidation of judges by state govt

The Association of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (AESID) has warned the state government to stop intimidating Judges in the cause of their duties, even as it commended the new Commissioner of Police for being professional.

The Ebonyi indigenes said the agents of state government were trying to manipulate the judiciary into causing trouble in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

In a statement released by its President, Amb. Paschal Oluchukwu, on Sunday in Abuja, the association said the goal is to continue to cause division in the PDP by having the Nwebonyi group parade as a factional State Exco of the PDP through Suit No: HAB/161/2020 with Roy Umahi as the lead counsel to the Plaintiffs.

“We condemn, whole and entire the desperate attempts to use the Judiciary to achieve the threat of being in APC and sponsoring crises and divisions in the PDP.”

While commending the Ebonyi Judiciary for remaining firm as the last hope of the common man, the statement charges it to remain steadfast and unwavering.

“Already, we have read in the media through the former Assistant Financial Secretary of the Nwebonyi group who recently dumped the camp, Linus Ogazi how Governor Umahi divided the Excos in order to create a parallel faction of the party.

“AESID is also aware of the threats and intimidations that the young man has been receiving since he made the disclosures and wishes to call on Security agencies to call the Governor, his brothers and the Speaker of the State’s House of Assembly who have been dishing out threats to him to order. They should be held responsible for whatever happens to Mr. Ogazi.”

On the activities of the new Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Garba, the group thanked the police for their professional role in ensuring that those who staged a protest recently at the state High Court were dispelled peacefully.

“We, however wish to counsel the new CP to remain as professional and apolitical as his erstwhile colleague, CP Philip Maku who has been transferred from the state.

“AESID also calls on security agencies and INEC to obey the order of Justice I. E. Ekwo of the Abuja Federal High Court in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1609/2020 restraining David Umahi’s faction of the PDP in Ebonyi State led by the gadfly, Nwebonyi and his cohorts from parading themselves as officers of the Party. They should therefore provide security and accord protection to the Udeogu-led Exco to legitimately takeover the State Secretariat of the Party for the interest of justice, peace and unity of the opposition party.

“AESID lastly commends the Udeogu-led Excos and indeed, the teeming members of PDP for their calmness, steadfastness and resoluteness amidst attacks and wanton provocations by Governor Umahi and his surrogates. For in the end, it shall indeed, be proven to all that Ebonyi is PDP and PDP is Ebonyi State and Umahi is only a solo naked dance in his new political voyage!”
