Faleke describes alleged sack of Kogi APC executives as frivolous and illegal

The running mate to the late Governorship candidate of the All Progressives congress (APC) in the 2015 election in Kogi State James Faleke has described the purported sack of some executive members of the Party in the State as a sham and the height of frivolity.

Speaking against the backdrop that the North central leadership of the party based in Nassarawa State had sacked the chairman and 38 other members Faleke indicated that though they were reliably informed that the zonal chairman collected gratification for the hatchet job he cannot believe such action can see the light of the day at this time the President Muhammad Buhari was making effort to unit the party.

“Yes I read in the papers that the State Executive has been dissolved. Only yesterday morning it came to our knowledge that the north central chairman had collected money to carry out an illegal dissolution.
” I maintained that it was not possible because in the first instance only the national working committee can recommend the dissolution of the State executive which must be ratified by NEC before a State executive can be dissolved.”
He said he cannot contemplate how a zonal office can dissolve the party executive of the State.
Faleke indicated that it was very unfortunate a petition was written by the Yahaya Bello group against majority of the executive members and a 4 man committee was set up.
Continuing he said in a situation whereby the membership of the State executive loyal to Governor Bello were 12 while the other group on the State chairman’s side were 39 and they went to defend themselves in Lafia two weeks ago and it was obvious that the petition was very frivolous, he expressed the disbelieve in the said dissolution.
“So if the committee was set up, my expectation is that the recommendations of that committee should have been passed on to the national working committee before any action is taken.
“It is the same national working committee that caused the havoc that we are having in Kogi State today. Is it now that the President is making peace in the party that such a thing should come up?”
The report had it that the zonal APC chairman North central announced sack of the Kogi State chairman of the party, Haddi Ametuo and 38 others for gross misconduct and anti-party activities.

It added that the sack followed a report recommending their removal by the disciplinary/fact finding committee set up by the Office of the North Central Zone of the party.

Ametuo was purportedly removed alongside 38 others for working against the interest and progress of the party in the state.

The list of the sacked Executive Officers also includes some local government officers of the party who were found guilty of working against the interest of the party.

It would be recalled the executive members under the leadership of Haddy Ametuo when they appeared before the disciplinary committee in Lafia about two weeks ago refuted the allegations of anti party activities levelled against them.
They threw back the same allegation of anti party at the Governor saying he had no moral grand standing to accuse them of his stock in trade.

The party chairman, Haddy Ametuo, noted that the governor has no moral justification to accused the party executive committee of anti-party activities.

Ametuo alleged that after Bello lost the party primaries in 2015, he worked for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Captain Idris Wada, during the November 2015 governorship election.

He admonished Bello “Not to destroy the party with his selfish and antidemocratic agenda.”

Ametuo in defense told the panel that the petition lack merit saying that some signatories to the petition are ghosts.

He indicated that the inclusion of unqualified and ghost executive committee members as signatories in the petition is not only fraudulent but criminal.

“Hon. Taufik Isah who has been appointed as Ijumu LGA caretaker chairman signed as party chairman. Osanaiye Taiwo who died since 2015 signed as secretary, Ijumu LGA.

He also pointed out that Haruna Isah cannot sign as Lokoja LGA APC chairman because he has been appointed as SA to the Governor.

“Our governor, Yahaya Bello joined APC in February 5, 2015 when it was obvious that President Mohammodu Buhari was going to win the presidential election at time when we had concluded all rallies.

“We have toiled day and night under the rain and sunshine from 2014 through membership registration exercise, congresses, conventions, primaries, rallies and to all elections in Kogi State – a feat that was near impossible.

“Those of us who made these victories possible are still much intact and focused.

“We are still prepared to recover the lost soul of our party in the state to repeat a resounding victory for President Muhammadu Buhari and recapture all the legislative seats in the state.

“We therefore request that this petition from this set of liars and impersonators be thrown into dustbin for lack of merit,

No PDP member defected in Ogbadibo -Media Group

By Our Reporter

A foremost media support group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, has described as untrue, the propaganda on the social media that some members of the party defected to the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC).

The group, Benue South PDP Social Media, in a statement on Friday by its Coordinator, Comrade Yemi Itodo, said those selling such propaganda were only doing so for personal gains, urging the public to disregard such “unfounded rumours”.

The John Ngbede led State Working Committee of the PDP had, on Tuesday, inaugurated the executive of the Ogbadibo chapter of the PDP.

Barely 48 hours after the inauguration, some APC members took to the social media, suggesting that some members of the PDP abandoned the party for the broom party.

But Comrade Itodo in the statement, said it was rather the APC members that indicated interests to join the ruling PDP which the chapter Chairman of the party, Hon. Vincent Amuche had hinted the state leadership of PDP and a new date shall be fixed to welcome over 3000 members of opposition parties who are itching to join PDP.

“I can authoritatively tell you that there shall be great tsunami in the camps of the opposition parties in the coming weeks. What has been delaying it was the inability to inaugurate the elected chapter executives, due to COVID-19.

“But now they are being inaugurated and you will be shocked at the caliber of persons that have already concluded arrangements to join PDP”, Itodo said.

He stressed that, “no member of PDP left the party for any other party”, challenging anyone with names and wards of those defectors to publish them.

“The truth is that, some aggrieved persons left their parties after the primaries did not favour them few years ago and joined forces with APGA, SDP, Labour, etc. So, if those persons decided to rejoin their parties, how would you ascribe such defections as from PDP?

“Do you know how many great members of PDP that had since returned to the party in their various wards without making noise”, Itodo posited.

While calling on the leadership of PDP in Ogbadibo and Benue South not to be distracted in the quest to have estranged members reunited into the fold and create enabling environment for those willing to defect to the party; Comrade Itodo warned the opposition parties against heating up the polity at the time all hands must be on deck in the business of governance of Benue State.
