Group tackle KEEC over attack on Governor Bello’s administration

Apparently piqued by the public outburst of the Kogi East Elders Council (KEEC) in a recent world press conference in Abuja where they took the Kogi State Government to the cleaners for cluelessness, Kogi East youth Coalition has blamed its chairman senator Ahmadu Ali for being the architect of Kogi woes.
The youths took a swipe at the elders for their perchance for using their influence as chieftains of the then ruling PDP to cut short the efforts of the likes of late Prince Abubakar Audu from developing the State.
The KEEC had earlier, raised concern over the Kogi State Government style of governance in what they described as rudderless adminstration of unmitigated disaster that was sailing wildly into difficult storms.
They raised issues over the backward development at the State owned university where the appointments of 135 academic staff were terminated and the half hazard staff screening exercise that has persisted for eternity with the monumental damage to the civil service as well as the insecurity in the State that has remained a puzzle.
The spokes person of the coalition Ischaka Onuh Alfred said the elders based on their influence deployed their Federal might and bottomless pockets to recruit attack dogs against late Audu until he lost his second term bid.
“Kogi State also lost her best chance to leapfrog into the future developmentally before the coming of Governor Yahaya Bello.”
According to him, “Their favorite minions against Prince Audu in those days were drawn from the press and the unions. Their syndicates dot Adoja’s every step in office with misrepresentations.
“They sold outright lies against him to the populace before finally ousting him from office through controversial elections which installed their lackeys.”
Hence he said despite thirteen years of PDP occupation of the Lugard House Audu’s projects remained the only visible signs of quality development the State can boast of.
Yet he said Ali and the so-called KEEC did not only remained silent throughout the years of the locust which they help to perpetrate as in the last two administration but they joined in the rape either directly or indirectly.
They accused Senator Ali of benefiting immensely from the maladministration of PDP in the State especially as his sons and relatives were favoured beneficiaries of some choicest appointments.
“Didn’t at least one of his sons serve for 13 straight years as a favoured appointee right through the eight years of former Governor Ibrahim Idris and the four years of immediate past Governor Idris Wada.”
He said from the foregoing the chairman of KEEC has not gotten the morality to pontificate on what good governance should be.
On the issues at the State university he said there was no stalemate at the Kogi State University.
In his words, “Ali has forgotten so quickly how he killed students and barred the National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) from Nigerian universities in 1978 as Federal Commissioner for Education. Has he suddenly realised how important unionism is in institutions of learning?
He expressed satisfaction with the style of administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi State.
According to them, the Kogi East Elders Council was a self serving group which neither had the mandate nor the support of the traditional institutions and the people of Kogi East senatorial district, and must be therefore ignored.
Alfred indicated that the group does not care who was in Lugard House adding that it only cares that the state is govern well.
“As far as we are concern, Senator Amodu Ali and his Kogi East Elders Council cannot be counted among those who provided standard for good governance in Kogi State.
“They are at best and elitist cultural troupes or social club who periodically perform in public for the sole benefit of her members,” he said.
The spoke person who refuted the allegations of non performance by the governor said the governor’s achievements in the area of security had been acknowledged nation wide to the extend that Kogi State was now an investors haven.
He added that the difficult decision of the governor in over hauling of the state civil service is now yielding positive results as over 1000 charlatans and over 4000 cheats who respectively forged certificates and cheated the government on sundry ways have been weeded from the service.
“We hereby declare a vote of confidence on governor Yahaya Bello and his new direction administration. We want his excellency to know that his reforms are in order and must be brought to logical conclusion.
