By John Akubo, Lokoja

Ahead of the 2019 elections, the embattled Deputy Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 Kogi State governorship election, Mr. James Faleke has indicated interest to contest for the Kabba/Bunu-Ijumu Federal constituency in Kogi.
Faleke currently represents Ikeja Federal constituency, Lagos in the House of Representatives.

During the November 2015 governorship election in Kogi, Faleke was the running mate to Prince Abubakar Audu when he transferred his Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to the constituency but the election was later declared inconclusive and the incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello, first runner up in the APC primary election was drafted to inherit the Audu’s votes; though Faleke declined to be made his (Bello) running mate in the supplementary election.

Making declaration on Sunday during the commissioning of some projects he donated in Aiyede, Kabba/Bunu Local Government the Lagos lawmaker said he is not running for the governorship slot this time but for the House of Representatives.

On the insinuation he may defect to the Advance Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), he said, “In politics there would always be speculations but the truth is that he is running for the House of Representatives now.

According to him, “Development should be everybody’s concern. The little I have done should be a wake up call on other well-meaning individuals and politicians to also contribute their quotas.

While challenging other community leaders to support their people, Faleke said, “My effort should not be the end, other community leaders or others should also join hands in contributing to make sure the community becomes great.

He also dismissed the rumour about his planned decamping to the Pe4oples Democratic Party (PDP), saying it was just at the realm of speculation. I still remain a card-carrying member of the APC.

“The only thing I’m sure of for now is that I have the desire and intention to context for the House of reps position of Kabba/Bubu – Ijumu Federal constituency.”

The lawmaker’s declaration has put a stop to the insinuation of his seeking reelection to Ikeja Federal constituency in 2019.

He urged the community to consider him for reelection as he promised to do more when elected.

Faleke said his group holds a strong believe in the reconciliation team of Senator Ahmed Tinubu, saying, “I am hopeful it will berth in Kogi State very soon to resolve the political differences in the party.”

The Chairman Aiyede Community Development Association, Prince P. K. Tolorunse commended the gesture of the lawmaker. He said it would aid in changing the economic fortune of the community.

“This project will no doubt reduce poverty among our people thereby improve the well being of the people. It will equally reduce lost as being experience in the past as people will have place to keep their wares.”
