Comrade Austin Usman Okai, has challenged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to come clean on the 20 billion Naira bailout funds saga involving the Kogi State Government and Sterling Bank

Okai on Tuesday in Abuja expressed utter dismay at the anti graft agency for not proving for the public to be well abreast on the true position of the N20b bail out fund that was starched away in a hidden fixed deposit for personal gains.

This was coming as Governor Yahaya Bello-led Kogi state government, continued to deny the allegation.
Speaking further on the issue, Okai pointed out that the onus lies with EFCC to produce “hard facts” on the controversial bailout account.

“EFCC, through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), should compel Sterling Bank to disclose the particulars of the actual depositor and those who authorized the opening of the account.

“Yahaya Bello may be hiding under the obnoxious immunity clause, but failure to investigate the Finance Commissioner and State Accountant General who jointly committed this impunity it will be a huge credit to Bello’s recent uproar.

“We must Begin to ask questions as we are no longer ready to be brainwashed by either of the parties,” he said.

Okai called on the Chairman of EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, to salvage his reputation by “shaming those responsible without considering whose ox is gored.”
It would be recalled that the Kogi State Government had denied opening any such account as it accused Sterling Bank of opening the said account without it’s consent.
