Heritage Oil allegedly Sacks HR Manager Over Contracts’ Infractions

Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited (HEOSL) has fired her General Manager of Human Resources and Administration, Bola Olajomi-Otubu.

Bola Olajomi-Otubu contract was allegedly terminated over allegations of gross misconducts bordering on misappropriation of funds, negligence, and abuse of office duties.

A source in Heritage told The Union Nigeria that “amongst her many alleged corrupt practices uncovered, was the use of front companies to bid for and win contracts in the organization for herself and her associates within OML 30 oil field especially in areas of Manpower contractors.”

“She also refused to give explanations to most of her conducts whenever she was called upon rather shunning top executives and arrogated extreme powers to herself as a supremo in Nigeria and that these “expatriates” can do nothing to her.”

“Until the termination of her appointment, Bola committed varying degree of infractions which on several occasions reduced the estimation of the oil multinational firm from the perspective of the general public.”

“It is noteworthy that the management of HEOSL under the visionary leadership of the CEO Naeem Atik Sadiq in a move to curb the excessive malpractices of the former GM Human Resources & Administration, deemed it fit to sack the erring General Manager to reduce the damage she has since caused the organization after joining HEOSL from Guinness Nigeria Plc in 2019.”

Another source said, “Bola, cut an intimidating posture in the organization and once threatened to fire the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from Nigeria boasting of her connections within the industry and have since resorted to cheap blackmail of the amiable CEO once she got wind of her impending sack.

Meanwhile, it was gathered by The Union Nigeria that staff of the oil company were jubilating after her sack.

One of the staff said, “During her time as the GM Human Resources & Admin, Bola singlehandedly fired many Nigerians due to her huge ego problem with the constant threatening word “I will deal with you, I will deal with you”.

“Prior to her termination, she terminated the employment contracts of over 17 staff who protested their unpaid 13th Months’ salary for 2020.”

“It is a huge relief that she is out of the organization”, according to another Manager in the Warri office of HEOSL who begged anonymity also, “there was wild celebration across all facilities of OML 30 when the sack announcement hit them.”

“Some of the company staff expressed uncommon joy, they claimed her sack is a welcome development since her actions severely affected production figures with incessant shutdown of facilities every week across all oil field which we never experienced under Richard Cutts, a former GM Corporate Services who was a sound and experienced conflict resolution expert respected by all community stakeholders.”

“As at the time of writing this report, the management of the organization is currently in the process of correcting the damages inflicted upon the firm by the mismanagement of the company affairs by Bola Olajomi-Otubu.” The source claimed.

According to an insider who is close to sacked General Manager, said “she is planning to head to court, but unfortunately, the staff policy handbook she drafted shall totally nullify whatever litigation plans she is nursing as her sack was rightly done and long overdue according to the terms of the policy.”

While thanking the CEO for doing the right thing, some community leaders have resolved to work with the management of HEOSL in ensuring a smooth operation across the OML 30 oil field for the betterment of the Niger Delta people.

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach Bola Olajomi-Otubu proved abortive.

Her phone number was switched off for days. Text messages sent to her were not responded to.

A source close to her stated however, that she switched her line off due to harassing phone calls and text messages she was receiving from her former colleagues.

Hope rises for Cashew Farmers as new president, Stephen promises to address bottle-necks

The newly elected National president of Cashew Farmers Association Mr. Ahiaba Stephen has promised to address the four major challenges bedevilling the Association.
Stephen had emerged the national President of the group after the election held at the Cashew House, Ogidibeje Junction, Anyigba in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
This was contained in a statement issued by the media handlers of the association.
According to the statement, Mr. Stephen in his acceptance speech, promised to address four four major issues that pose great challenge to the farmers that includes, the problem of farm gates encroachment and pricing and Multiple taxation.
Others according to him  are Cashew theft within the farm, warehouses and on transit and Cashew seedling production and grafting technology that can increase production and control in Nigeria.
His emergence the statement said elicited hope for a new dawn among members of the association.
“It’s a breath of fresh air with Mr. Ahiaba Stephen at helms of affair as it provides an opportunity for him to bring his wealth of experience in the agro-allied sector of the economy into the workings of the union for the good of all actors.
The statement explained further that, “His leadership promises a robust engagement with all involved in the cashew chain and as it is in his leadership style, everyone will be carried along in decision making as that has always brought him closer to the people he works with and that of the union won’t be different.”
