Journalists: Can we meet you ?

*Suspected Gang leader:* My name is Ayodele Akinnibosun aka (Haywhy), I am the chairman of Liberation Youths movement Kwara South, I work for Senate president and Governor Ahmed as political mobilising youth and we have been working for long time since he was Governor of kwara.

*Journalists:* Be specific. What exactly do you do for Saraki, what type of works ?

*suspected gang leader:* we mobilise and do political arrangement for him in kwara south

*Journalists:* describe the work u do, what the police PRO said has to do with Robbery and that is weighty, u are talking politics and that is light. What do u do for Senate’s President?

*Suspected Gang leader:* where we can’t win, we make arrangement there, we scatter elections if we don’t win

*Journalists:* what is the connection between the robbery and the Senate’s President

*Suspected Gang leader:* the connection is that for example , this car was given to me by His Excellency through the Chief of Staff of Kwara state as a gift from leader

*Journalist :* who’s His Excellency?

*Suspected Gang leader:* Governor AbdulFatai Ahmed

*Journalists:* please what has offa robbery got to do with your story , do you participated in offa robbery?

*Suspected Gang leader:* Yes I participated in the Offa robbery , I used this Lexus car given to me for the operations in offa robbery

*Journalists:* In rowdy session……., what was the plan ? They gave u a car for political mobilisation or thuggery issue but you move it into robbery , we want to know the link , u are telling us a different thing , *did the Senate president or governor send u to be killing or stealing from Kwara people* ,simple and straightforward, that’s what we want to know ?

*Suspected Gang leader:* the Senate president and Governor of Kwara state , we have been their political thugs , that’s what encouraged us to the robbery

*Journalists:* So this robbery, how did u get ur weapons,my friend *how did you get weapon , tell us*

*Suspected Gang leader:* it was through this ….ehehn…. one ex , retired police officer,Micheal , …. *dismissed police officer Michael Adikwu*, *he was the one that comes with armunitions*

*Journalists:* *please is this said governor or Saraki aware of the robbery that u did ?. are they aware of the robbery , did they send you the robbery operation?*

*Suspected Gang leader:* *No! They did not send us for the robbery but because we are their political thugs , that’s what led us to the robbery*

*Journalists:* *you have access to governor and Senate president, there’s nothing you need that they won’t give you , why did you have to engage in robbery with all these opportunity ?*

*Suspected Gang leader:* *It is devil that pushed us*

Kogi Covid-19 warehouse violence: Activist urges investigation of armed groups

Executive Director of Kogi-based Initiative for Grassroots Advancement (INGRA) Mr Hamza Aliyu,
has called on Kogi State Government to properly investigate the alleged armed groups that engaged in violence over warehouse Looting of Covid-19 palliatives.

Aliyu made the call in a press statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Tuesday in Lokoja in reaction to the violence resulting from Covid-19 palliatives looting.

In what he termed, “Needless Violence, Looting And Death in Lokoja”, Aliyu said the deadly violence, death and looting that occurred on Sunday 25th and Monday 26th October, had raised concerns of well meaning citizens.

“It is important that the perception by many citizens of the involvement of amorphous “armed groups” during these looting that took place on Monday is quickly investigated by the Kogi State government.

“Such individuals and groups must be brought to justice and efforts put in place to avoid such callous, wanton deaths and maiming of our citizens.

“The heartbreaking death of a physically disabled young man in Lokongoma is condemnable and must be investigated. We must never allow the lives of our people to be taken unconstitutionally.

“We call on the citizens to obey laid down constitutional government laws and orders and desist from criminality of any kind.

“We must never justify our anger and frustration with our governance process by breaking and looting public and private establishments and stealing”, Aliyu cautioned.

He urged government to quickly address the issues and bring the culprits to book in view of the fast approaching December 12, elections into the 21 Local Government Councils in the state.

According to the Human Rights activist, the #EndSARS nationwide protests has exposed the challenges that has bedeviled the nation’s governance process.

Aliyu noted that citizens, especially young people, were fast losing confidence in the current generation of leaders at the community, religious and political levels.

“This frustrations and anger has boiled over into criminal activities that have led to deaths, sorrow and blood in the once peaceful State.”

He therefore, called on government to take seriously, the issue of good governance, transparency and accountability of state resources. (NAN)

COAS, PSOs, GOCs and Field Commanders brainstorm to tackle security

Chief of Army staff Lieutenant General Yusufu Tukur Buratai in a meeting with PSOs, GOCs and Field Commanders on Monday held a brainstorm on how to tackle insecurity in the country

At the meeting they reiterated their commitment to ensuring democratic stability in the country.

The COAS who was represented by the Acting Director Army Public Relations Connell Sagir Musa, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Army Headquarters in Abuja. He made it clear that there will be no room for disloyalty amongst all officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army.

According to him, the best system of government is democracy, and with his subordinates, they will ensure that Nigeria’s democracy remain stable and steady.
The Army, he said will not allow any force, elements or destabilising agents in or outside the country to set the country on fire.

The COAS indicated that a group of individuals and other undesirable elements have hijacked the peaceful protest #ENDSARS protest marches resulting to widespread violence, looting of public and private properties in many parts of the country.
This he said has led to the imposition of curfew in several states, adding that the Nigerian Army is aware of the grand design by the sponsors of ENDSARS protest to draw into crisis.

Buratai further stated that the Nigerian Army will continue to assist the federal government to bring an end to the insecurity across the country and to prevent miscreants and criminals from hijacking the ENDSARS protest nation wide.

He urged all the PSOs GOCs and field commanders to remain loyal and unwavering in ensuring the unity, stability of the country

FG will ensure justice is done over death of protesters- Lawan

President of the senate Ahmad Lawan, has called on all Nigerians to be calm as he assured that the Federal Government will ensure justice for all over the deaths of protesters across the country
He said the National Assembly is fully committed to putting the necessary legislation in place for comprehensive reform of the police to enhance their institutional integrity and efficiency.
Lawan in a statement re-assured youths that the National Assembly will collaborate with the executive to ensure justice for victims of misconduct and rights abuses by personnel of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police.
“In spite of the unfortunate hijack of the protests against police brutality by hoodlums to unleash horrifying violence, arson, looting and wanton destruction of public and private property on the country, we will ensure that government fulfils the commitment it has made to the well-meaning agitators for police reform and good governance.” Lawan stressed.
“As we seek a path out of this regrettable crisis, my heart goes out to the victims of the reprehensible violence and criminality witnessed in the last few days in many parts of the country.

“I send my condolences to the families of our security and law enforcement agents who have made the Supreme sacrifices in the course of their service to their fatherland.

“I also call for a thorough investigation of every criminal act that we have witnessed in the past few weeks with a view to bringing to justice all those elements who have so callously destroyed public and private property.”

“Now that the mindless carnage has distorted the purpose of the protests, I urge the youths to join hands with the authorities in bringing an urgent cessation to the violence.”
