PDP expresses dismay that Buhari will blame the dead for his failure

**Says remark is an open support for insurgency

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday expressed dismay that a President would blame the dead fir his cluelessness.

The major opposition party in Nigeria described as weird, reprehensible and repulsive that the Buhari Presidency now seeks to turn itself into a mouthpiece of terrorists by its subtle attempt to rationalize the killing of innocent and hard working Nigerians.
The party said it is shocked that the Buhari Presidency has graduated from making bogus claims of having degraded terrorism to the embarrassing point of blaming unprotected and helpless Nigerians for falling victims of terrorist attacks.

It said; “This, to say the least, is the height of leadership failure of the lazy, lethargic and incompetent Buhari administration”.
It stressed that it is alarmed by the reckless and bizarre attempt by the Buhari Presidency to rationalize the gruesome beheading of 43 innocent Nigerians by insurgents in Zabarmari, Borno state.
The PDP particularly said that it is outraged by the Buhari Presidency’s claims that the farmers were killed because they failed to get clearance before going to their farms.
The Party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, said that the statement by the Presidency is also an admission that the Buhari administration has been overwhelmed by terrorists and can no longer guarantee Nigerians and other citizens a normal life.

The statement reads, “This unpatriotic stance smacks of support for acts of terrorism and mindless killing of our compatriots by a government whose Commander-in-Chief had promised Nigerians to lead the battle against insurgents from the front.
“Our party is forced to hold that attitudes such as the unpatriotic remark of the Buhari Presidency embolden insurgents in their ceaseless attacks in our country.
“Such also provides further insights into the escalation of acts of terrorism in our country in the last five years.
“It is therefore insensitive for the Buhari Presidency to have shown this huge lack of empathy, which amounts to a spat on the grave of the slain as well as an unpardonable slap on the faces of the generality of mourning Nigerians.

“Perhaps this also informs why their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has not deemed it fit to have a word of lamentation for the death nor consolation for the bereaved.
The party therefore chalkenged President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately withdraw the offensive statement by his Presidency and apologize to Nigerians, particularly the people of Borno state.
The PDP also restated its call to President Buhari to heed the demands by Nigerians to rejig the nation’s security architecture as well as replace his Service Chiefs with more competent hands in the interest of the nation.

Jerry Gana, Part of Nigeria’s Problem Says Niger Amalgamated Youths Societies

From John Adams, Minna

Former information Minister Professor Jerry Gana was on friday described by the Amalgamated Youth Societies of Niger state as being part of the problem facing Niger state and Nigeria.

The Youths in a statement made available to newsmen in Minna claimed that for the years Professor Gana was in power “there is nothing he can show as his contribution to the socio economic and physical development of our state.

“It is sad enough that the former Minister who held juicy political positions in the regime of former military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida rtd has not even been able to float a foundation which will assist the needy neither has he been able to give even one scholarship to a nigerlite in all the years he held public office.

“How can such a person complain about lack of development in his state or lack of governance/government when in all the years he was in government he did not do anything to better the life of his people” the Amalgamated Youths said in the statement signed by it’s President Ndako Mohammed

“This state has done a lot for Jerry Gana what has he given back to the state, what has he done for the country that made him a Minister and National Orientation Agency boss apart from speaking big big English” Mohammed said.

In apparent reference to the remarks by Professor Gana at his reuniting with the PDP where he said ” There is no governance in Niger state, there is no governance in Nigeria” the youths said Professor Gana was part of the PDP for 16 years during which the economy of the country was bastardised and corruption was the order of the day

“The effect of the maladministration of the PDP for 16 years is what we are facing as a country today” the Youths said.

According to the statement Professor Gana with his defection from the Social Democratic Party where he contested and lost the presidential ticket of the party just three years ago has also shown him as “an unstable and unprincipled politician who jumps from one political party to the other because of bread and butter”.

The Youths told Professor Gana that Niger state has been in good hands since the APC under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello started in 2015 adding that the administration has been “righting the wrongs the PDP government of which he was a part of committed in the state”, adding that the Minna- Bida road is now under construction, several roads hitterto abandoned in Minna are being constructed.

People in most towns and villages in the state now have access to potable water the hospitals are no longer mere consulting clinics, civil servants are receiving their entitlements as at when due contrary to what obtained when the PDP was in power in the state the Youth said in the statement.
Professor Gana had while reuniting with the PDP last Wednesday at his Busu countryhome had berated the state and federal government for lack of performance saying the country ” is nosediving”

According to Professor Gana “today (Wednesday) is not a day for lecture, it is not a day for campaigns, we just want to rejoice that we are back together solidly; and we are going to work together solidly, that we are going to work together effectively, that we are going to campaign powerfully

“I tell you, we are going to go round strategically, in such a way that the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) so called government, whether in Niger state; is there a Government in Niger state? Because many people are not aware, or at the Centre? At the federal level, we don’t even have a Government
